We've moved on to a new unit! Transportation Station by Mother Goose Time is the new unit for the month of November in which Hope and Jonathan will be learning about all the aspects of transportation: from the road, to maps, to service stations, to cars, airplanes, hot air balloons and even horses. From the beginning, I knew Jonathan would love this unit and it hasn't been a disappointment! We are having a blast.
One of our favorite days this week was the day spent learning about the service stations and why they are important. The kids loved making their own tool boxes and washing their little car outside. They learned all about caring for their cars this day.
Always ends in a mess! |
The Children's Museum in Visalia has a perfect exhibit for this topic. I am so glad we got passes for this year because we have been able to connect so much of our homeschooling already to the exhibits there. This particular exhibit was a car repair shop and service station. The kids got to replace tires, replace filters, slide under the car, and change the oil of a car. We had fun!
Teaching about the car jack |
We also have a very special book that has been so fun to read this week! Jonathan got a book about his name and different kinds of trucks and cars from his Nana a couple Christmas's ago. It has been so fun to bring that out again and learn about the various kinds of vehicles, and also learn all the letters in his first and last name (he has a long name! Poor kid...).
We can't wait to see what next week brings around in the transportation unit! Thank you, Mother Goose Time for the creative and wonderful ideas.
